Lately, I have been thinking a lot about how our beliefs interact with our actions. There is a lot of talk about how knowledge is not necessarily enough to convert our will. Augustine talks about this in his Confessions. But the more I think about it, our beliefs should transform the way we act. In fact, they do. Think of your deepest held belief. For me, I have become quite the feminist in the past year. I have strong convictions that men and women are equal partners in this life and that we should be treated as such. This deeply held belief changes how I interact with people. If I believed that I was the weaker sex, then I would act as such. I would interact with men and women differently.
